KPMG reveals plans to double UK lawyer headcount

Targets additional 220 solicitors by 2024

Accountancy big KPMG has introduced plans to double the dimensions of its UK authorized arm over the subsequent three years.

KPMG will look to tackle an extra 220 legal professionals by the top of 2024, which is able to embrace 45 companions and administrators and improve the entire variety of training solicitors to over 400.

KPMG first entered the authorized market with 50 legal professionals, together with 4 companions, in October 2014 when it secured various enterprise construction (ABS) standing. This enables it to undertake reserved authorized providers within the UK, specifically rights of viewers, conduct of litigation, reserved instrument actions, probate actions and administration of oaths.

All Large 4 gamers have made inroads into the authorized providers market, with PwC being the primary to obtain ABS standing in January 2014. EY adopted swimsuit in December 2014, with Deloitte becoming a member of the trio in June 2018.

In 2020, KPMG revealed it had teamed up with BPP Legislation College to launch a 27-month route into the occupation that sees rookies full the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE).
