A judge has been given a proper warning for conducting a hearing from his car.
The Judicial Conduct Investigations Workplace (JCIO) stated deputy district judge Christopher McMurtie dealt with the hearing, āpartly while driving and using his phone in hands-free modeā.
The judge discovered himself within the considerably uncommon place after having to journey unexpectedly for private causes. He accepted the transfer was āmisguidedā and gave assurances as to his future conduct.

In a statement published this week the JCIO stated: āThe Lord Chief Justice, with the Lord Chancellorās agreement, has issued Deputy District Judge Christopher McMurtie with a formal warning for misconduct⦠The judge failed to meet the expectation to avoid conduct which might reduce respect for judicial office.ā
